Thursday, July 31, 2008 | by Rob Galbraith
Nikon has announced a service modification for the D3 that more than doubles the number of frames that can be shot in a single burst. The number of FX Format 14-bit Lossless Compressed NEFs, for example, jumps from 16 to 36.
The Nikon D3 Buffer Memory Expansion Service is available now or soon in the U.S., for a fee of US$500 plus shipping. To begin the process in the U.S., an online form must be completed. In Canada, the fee is CDN$550, and requests to receive the service will be accepted starting on September 3, 2008. Information on the service in Europe is on a Nikon Europe support page.
