I’m not sure, if this word exists, but I call it like that. Portraiture is clear; it’s a photograph of a person that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject. A candid photograph is a photograph that is made either without the subject's knowledge or withouttheir explicit permission, hence they are captured un-posed. Since the whole thing is happening in a public place, it’s street photography. Therefore I call it like that and it’s important that all the three elements are fulfilled. You have to get close, you have to be in a public place and you don’t ask the subject upfront. Of course there are different ways and styles to do this. This is what this book is all about:the ways, styles, difficulties and challenges of this kind of photography.
