Thom Hogan http://www.bythom.com/nikon.htmExcessive blooming occurs when the sun appears in your
shot. A side effect of the mechanical/electronic shutter in
the D50 is that the camera can produce objectionable
bloom when excessively bright light sources appear in the
frame and you use a very short shutter speed (usually
1/500 or faster). This is a real problem, but can be worked
around (use a neutral density filter and small apertures to
get your shutter speed to 1/250 or longer).
