O fundo preto ideal é de veludo preto alemão.
Tem luz demais na foto, vc está iluminando áreas que não precisa, como no caso do fundo logo atrás do vaso e daquela emenda... tem luz chegando no fundo e vc pode evitar isso afastando mais o objeto do fundo e dirigindo a luz.

Esse veludo preto acho que não vai servir pro que eu quero fazer porque o veludo preto absorve quase totalmente a luz e eu quero um leve "fundo" pra dar profundidade à cena, como explica esse cara do Light and Magic - REVEALING SHAPE AND CONTOUR:
In Figure 5.11 we used a curved paper background called a sweep.
Hung in this manner, the background covers the table on which the
subject sits and also conceals whatever might be behind the table. The
camera sees no horizon, nor is the gentle curve of the paper visible as
long as we do not let the shadow of the subject fall on that part of the
background. The brain thinks the entire surface is horizontal and
extends a possibly infinite distance behind the subject.
So far, we have used simple, single-tone backgrounds for the sake of
simplicity in our examples. Not only can this produce boring pictures,
but such lighting also fails to capitalize on the illusion of infinite depth
in the background. We can greatly enhance this illusion by illuminating
the background unevenly.
